Abstract

Williams syndrome(WS) is a rare congenital systemic disorder caused by a microdeletion of chromosome 7q11.23. The phenotype of the disorder consists of distinct patterns of physical, neurologic, behavioral, and cognitive abnormalities, resulting in mild to moderate mental retardation, distinctive facial features, and cardiovascular disease. This report describes the dental treatment of a child with WS under general anesthesia, who presented with multiple caries in primary teeth. The patient was treated by extraction, pulp treatment, and restoration with stainless steel crowns and zirconia crowns. Dental professionals should communicate with pediatricians when planning to treat WS patients to understand their medical status and make proper modifications to the treatment plan.
